Life-size bronze sculptures of people add an interesting dimension to a walk along the northern side of Singapore's River, in the heart of the Colonial District. These artworks portray the races and occupations of those who helped the city grow, from its beginnings as a fishing village to its modern-day status as a progressive metropolis, known as the Lion City.

Start the Sculpture Trail

A good place to start this walk is at the Elgin Bridge, (northern end) on South Bridge Road. There is a very wide, well-paved, flat promenade beside the river. It is a great place for taking photos, looking across to the skyscrapers of the CBD and the restored shophouses of Boat Quay.

Walk along the promenade past Parliament House on your left. In a minute you'll come to the first statue, opposite the Victoria Memorial Concert Hall, one of the grand old Colonial era buildings .
